All-on-4® Dental Implants

A new set of permanent teeth in just days

Wollongong’s All-on-4® Super Clinic

The innovative All-on-4® procedure means you’ll receive an entirely new set of permanent, natural-looking teeth in just a few days. With in-depth knowledge, training and support, Dr Phelan and his team will help you see the potential of a bright new smile and understand your treatment options.
What is All-on-4® ?

All-on-4® is a quick and reasonably cost effective way to give you a fixed set of teeth, supported by 4 implants in your upper or lower jaw.

Previously, to achieve a fixed set of teeth involved placement of implants followed by months of healing prior to having your new teeth made and fitted. If your teeth were missing for a protracted period of time, this was often preceded by extensive grafting procedures to achieve sufficient bone to allow for their placement. Using advanced implant placement techniques, All-on-4® allows for placement of the implants followed by the fitting of the final bridge within 2 days of the surgery.

With All-on-4® at Contemporary Smiles – you can go from having loose and ill-fitting dentures to a fixed prosthesis within a three day period. In this short period of time your facial aesthetics, your ability to chew food and taste your food comfortably can be transformed!

All-on-4® The Treatment Process

1: Consultation with Dr Barry Phelan:

Dr Barry Phelan will spend an hour with you to get to know and understand your concerns.

A 3D scan of your jaws and teeth will be undertaken on site, along with diagnostic photographs which will allow for accurate diagnosis of your particular situation and what would be involved to address your concerns and objectives.

Our aim is that you leave at this point armed with the information necessary to make an informed decision. A detailed letter will be forwarded to you outlining the options available along with what is involved in each.

2: Treatment Planning:

During this appointment, the treatment plan is finalised. Records of your bite and teeth are taken along with selecting the proposed shade of your new teeth.

3: Surgery

The first step of the operation is preparing your mouth for dental implants. This includes removing any necessary teeth from the jaw, treating and cleaning any lingering disease, and implementing required jaw bone reduction for the All-on-4 procedure.

Next, the four new implants will be placed, and dissolvable stitches will be used to stitch up any wounds.

Before waking you, we will administer another anaesthetic to ensure that you do not feel any pain upon first waking up.

4: Fitting your teeth

We’ll secure your new prosthetic teeth permanently in place. You can expect immediate functionality from your new implants. This is a simple, straightforward appointment that won’t require aesthetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our patients ask lots of questions. We’re glad you do as it means we can make your visit to the dentist a pleasant an enjoyable time. Here are some of the questions we frequently get asked:

Am I a good candidate for All-on-4® dental implants?
To determine if you are a good candidate for All-on-4® dental implants, several factors will be taken into account. A certified surgeon from Next Smile Australia will evaluate your dental health and overall well-being, using tools such as CT scans, digital impressions, and photographic imaging, as well as review your patient history.

Based on the assessment, the surgeon will recommend a personalized treatment plan that meets your unique needs and preferences. However, some medical conditions can prevent you from being eligible for dental implants. If our team determines that this is the case for you, we will suggest alternative treatment options instead of All-on-4®.

Why are implants a better alternative to dentures & bridges?

When it comes to addressing tooth loss, decay, or severe gum disease, dental implants and the All-on-4® treatment are considered superior options. Unlike dentures, which can be challenging to wear and use, and bridges, which may not feel like natural teeth and require periodic replacement, All-on-4® offers a better functional, aesthetic, and maintenance outcome.

Next Smile Australia’s All-on-4® treatment delivers natural-looking teeth that are easy to clean and maintain. With All-on-4®, you can enjoy a normal lifestyle, eating, biting, and smiling with confidence. The All-on-4® approach is also more versatile, making it possible to treat complex cases that were once deemed impossible.

If you’re seeking a personalized treatment solution, our team can help design the best-tailored approach that suits your unique needs and preferences.

How long does the All-on-4® Dental Implant procedure take?

Following your initial consultation with our experienced dental team to surgery with your chosen surgeon, your new teeth are fitted within 24 hours and often on the day of surgery.

Do dental implants last forever?
Dental implants are a permanent solution. But the long-term success of All-on-4® dental implants depends on you and your oral health habits. Unlike your natural teeth, dental implants will not be prone to tooth decay, but they still require you to keep up good oral hygiene and regular professional cleaning. With regular care, All-on-4® dental implants can last you a lifetime.
How long does it take to recover from All-on-4®?
Unlike any other dentures, All-on-4® dental implants are fully functional straight after surgery. You will experience a certain level of swelling and discomfort in the weeks following your procedure. Most of the slight pain reported comes from the swelling and potential bruising, but paracetamol, ibuprofen, and in some cases, prescription painkillers, will help abate the sensations.

If you experience any signs of severe pain or discomfort, then contact our team of experienced specialists straight away.

What is the average cost of an All-on-4® Dental Implant procedure?
Understandably, this is one of our most frequently asked questions. During an initial All-on-4® consultation at a Next Smile Australia clinic near you, we’ll fully examine your dental health and outline your estimated treatment cost.
